St Mary’s to deliver Pfizer Covid booster vaccine in September and October

We will be administering the Covid booster vaccine along with the flu vaccine at our surgery building at 37 St Mary’s Street, this autumn.

We currently have clinics scheduled for the following dates:-

  • Saturday 23rd September (fully booked for all patients)
  • Sunday 24th September (fully booked for patients aged over 65)
  • Saturday 30th September
  • Sunday 1st October
  • Saturday 7th October

If you have already booked an appointment for a flu vaccine, you can simply advise us on the day when you attend for your appointment whether you would like to have the Covid booster vaccine as well.

If you have not yet booked an appointment and wish to do so, you may contact us directly to book your flu and Covid vaccine online, by clicking here – St Mary’s Flu and Covid booking page and logging on via Ask My GP.

If you are unable to contact us online, please call the surgery (preferably after 10am) on 01353 663 434 and choosing option 1.

The eligible criteria for receiving a Covid booster vaccine is as follows, please be aware that we are only able to vaccinate people who meet the relevant criteria:-

  • Residents in care homes for older adults
  • All adults aged 65 years and over
  • People aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
  • Frontline health and social care workers.
  • People aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts of people with immunosuppression
  • People aged 16 to 64 years who are carers and staff working in care homes for older adults

Patients who choose to have both Covid and flu vaccinations at the same appointment will not also be able to have a shingles or pneumococcal vaccine at the same time. This will need to be arranged for a later date.

We will be contacting our housebound patients in due course to arrange an appropriate time to visit to administer these vaccines. Please wait for a phone call from the surgery and a member of our Patient Services Team will arrange a suitable time with you.

We are commissioned to offer flu vaccines to children who  are aged 2 and 3 on the 1stSeptember and all children aged from 6 months to 18 years in the ‘at risk’ groups. We are holding a child and young person’s clinic on Saturday 7th October. We are not being supplied with Covid vaccines for eligible people aged under 18.

We endeavour to do the majority of the flu/covid vaccinations at the weekend so that is reduces the impact on routine work during the week and I am extremely grateful to all staff for giving up their precious time off at the weekend to facilitate this. We fully understand that some patients may not be able to make these weekend clinics and we will be putting on ad hoc weekday clinics to accommodate everyone where we can.
