COVID-19 vaccination weekly update

Posted on:

Here is the latest COVID vaccination update for Ely Primary Care Networks (PCNs):

Over 25,400 vaccines given so far from 15 Dec 2020 to 15 Mar 2021

If you are over the age of 50, you are now invited to book for your COVID vaccination. You will be invited by SMS text, letter or phone call. You are eligible to attend your local PCN-run hub (Cathedral Medical Centre or Staploe Medical Centre) or one of the mass vaccination hubs in the area.

Anyone from priority groups 1-9 who has not yet managed to book an appointment, please contact the surgery. We will be happy to book you in.

AstraZeneca vaccine safety: Currently the vast majority of our appointments are for the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. We are very aware of the concerns being raised in some countries about the risk of blood clots associated with this vaccine. However, we wish to reassure you that we still have complete confidence in the safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The UK’s independent medicines regulator, the MHRA, has advised that people should still go and get their COVID vaccine when invited. The World Health Organisation has also advised there is no evidence of a link between the vaccine and clots.

Any changes to vaccine delivery and rollout will be posted on our websites or social media pages. Please keep an eye out.

Ely PCN consists of the following GP practices: St George’s Medical Centre, Burwell Surgery, Cathedral Medical Centre, St Mary’s Surgery, Staploe Medical Centre and Haddenham Surgery.
