Electronic Prescription Service

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is a free NHS service that sends electronic prescriptions from GP surgeries to pharmacies. This means you will not have to come into the surgery to collect your prescription; it is sent electronically by your GP to the pharmacy you choose, saving you time.

Using EPS gives you more choice. You can register with a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop, and you may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as there will be time for your repeat prescriptions to be ready before you arrive.

This free service is ideal for you if have a stable condition and don’t want to visit your GP surgery every time to collect your repeat prescription and you collect your medication from the same place most of the time.

Eventually EPS will remove the need for most paper prescriptions.

We encourage all patients to register for this free service. You can do this through SystmOnline if you are registered for online services or ask at the surgery.

Electronic Repeat Dispensing Service

If you or someone you care for uses the same medicines regularly, you may benefit from using the NHS Electronic Repeat Dispensing Service (eRD). This free NHS service allows your doctor to send multiple medication prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice, up to a maximum of 12 months.
